Conference or offsite game

A 90 to 120 minute game for up to about 60 people. Each table of six makes the decisions together. No acting, no prizes, and nobody presents to the room. You get a write-up of every table.

Answer four quick questions
from A$5,000
WHO YOU GET

Our director, Dan Epstein, designs your game and runs it in the room. One to three facilitators keep every table moving, so your delegates spend the time deciding.

Is this for you?

  • You have a session slot and want delegates doing something, not watching a panel.
  • Your leadership offsite needs one session people still talk about the week after. Your managers can play a company like yours, and the debrief puts their choices side by side.
  • You need the game built in weeks, not months.

What you get

  • A game built for your audience
  • Facilitators for the room
  • A write-up of every table, never naming players

How it runs

1

Before

We build the game around your theme. For EAGx Melbourne, an effective altruism conference, the game went from brief to table in about a week.

2

On the day

We brief the room, run three or four rounds and close with a debrief. One to three facilitators, depending on the size of the room.

3

After

A write-up of every table: the moves, what happened next and what players said.

What it looks like at the table

Each table plays one group in the story: a council, a charity, a supplier, an agency. Each round brings news. The table argues it out and agrees a move. The next round shows what every table's moves did. Nobody acts or performs, and quiet players still decide. The debrief puts the tables' choices side by side.

Games we can build for you

  • A volcanic winter and a food shortage (EAGx Melbourne, 2023)
  • The first ten days of a pandemic
  • Your largest funder pulls out in March
  • A key customer walks
  • A restructure announced on a Monday

Price

From A$5,000, plus GST, for a room of up to about 60 people.

Bigger conference? It runs as a breakout for up to about 60 people who choose it. Our largest room so far is 55 people at nine tables. Give us your numbers and we will say straight what fits.

The price depends on the room and how much of the game is built new. We quote before you book. Travel outside Melbourne is at cost.

We write the session title, the program blurb and the facilitator bio for you. Tables of six work best. Round tables of eight to ten work too. We need a screen and a microphone.

Book about four weeks ahead. Your report date is set when we scope the game.

Proof

Dan and the team at LGP were willing to do a really quick turn-around for us - designing an entire 90min game within a week!

ALLFED

Fun and engaging but also surprising and insightful.

Player, EAGx Melbourne 2023

It was interactive and great at emulating scenarios which usually take a very long time to unfold.

Player, company team game, 2023
  • EAGx Melbourne 2023: 20 of the 55 players filled in feedback. Asked whether they would recommend it, they scored it 9.4 out of 10 on average, and 16 of the 20 gave 9 or 10.
  • ALLFED, a food-security research nonprofit, booked us to run games at EAGx Melbourne, an effective altruism conference, in 2023 and 2024.
  • Culture Amp booked a team game for their end-of-year event after seeing our EAGx game.
  • Write-ups never name players.
